Are You Getting Too Many Emails From ARCSI

Posted By Perry Phillips Jr., Home Cleaner Magazine, Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Are you getting too many emails from ARCSI
Okay, so we have heard “Perry, stop sending me all of these emails about updates!”- If this is you, here is the solution. (Perry is not sending them).  With our new online community, you have options for getting updates about  a wide range of activities, such as when new posts are made in areas you are interested in, when someone new joins a part of the online community you like, or when someone in your connection list or a group you belong to updates their profile.
If you are receiving too many of these emails your profile may be set to “catch” them.

What you need to do is log into the Online Community and go to your profile (there will be a link on the home page under the main photos that flash). Once you are in your profile you will have a profile menu on the right of the screen, (take some time and explore here when you can, there are some really cool features that are new).
On the profile menu, click on “my preferences”, once this screen is open you can choose what notifications (if any) you want. Check or uncheck, then hit “submit”.
If you need any assistance with this do not hesitate to contact us!

The Best Thing on Our New Site

Posted By Alison Palmer, Custom Maid Ltd., Thursday, October 16, 2008
Remember our old message board?  You have a burning issue so you post a question.  Then you wait, and wait, and wait.   You check back to see if anyone has responded again and again.  But unless another member is browsing the messages, you may never get a response.

NOT ANY MORE!!!

On our new site, when you post a question, any member who is "subscribed" to the category is instantly notified.  When someone posts a response, you and all other subscribers are notified immediatlely.

Yeah!  Instant gratification!!!!

How to post questions, read posts, and join online discussions

How to Post Questions, Answers and Comments to the new ARCSI Online Community

Okay, so there is a great deal of information all at once with the new ARCSI online community. We want to make sure members can easily learn their way around the site.

Each week we will break down an area and explain how to get the most out of it.

A good place to start would be the “Association News” tab from the home page.  There you will find “Website Features”.  This will be a great place to ask questions and find answers about navigating the new site.

You’ll want to participate in online discussions.  Think of this like our old message board on steroids!  From the home page, click “Community Groups” then “Business Development Topics”.  You will find many areas of interest here like marketing, employee issues, insurance, customer service, financial issues etc.  You must “subscribe” to each area of interest to be included in discussions.  I’m totally no-tech and found everything very self explanatory.

Once you subscribe to an area, you can add to, reply to and view posts.  To participate in an established post, click on the title, then make a “comment”, it will then show up with the other comments.  If you do not see what you are looking for, or you have a new question or new information to share, click on “create a post” and then you can enter the information you want to share, or the question you want to ask. (You can see examples in each area).
PLEASE NOTE: Be sure that you are posting and commenting in the areas that are relative to the subject in that group, so that information is easily navigated.

You’ll also see a list of all the other members who are subscribed in each area.  You can click on any name in the list and be taken directly to that member’s personal page.

On the right side of your personal page, click on “My Preferences”.  Here you will be able to decide if you want an email notification every time someone adds or changes a post. (I started out getting email notifications, but it filled up my inbox!)

Main areas:
Association News- This area is for what is going on in ARCSI, the latest updates about news, events, and membership information. The “President’s Perspective” a weekly Blog from Alison Palmer can be found in this area.

Community Groups- This is the main member-sharing information center of the website, where members can read, ask questions, and post comments about areas such as  marketing, financial management, employee issues, and many more!

You have the choice of visiting and viewing all the information included. You will be prompted to join each group that interests you.  All of these learning groups are included with membership in ARCSI. Note: You must be logged in to join the groups and then to return to visit.

If you do not see what you are looking for, or you feel there is a need for a new area of discussion, please let us know at once and we will get one started.

Adding other members from your company

Posted By Perry Phillips Jr., Home Cleaner Magazine, Wednesday, October 08, 2008
Provide networking and information for key employees, or maybe you have a business partner, or a spouse that you would like to have access to the ARCSI Online Community.

With the Circle Pass Membership packages you can add people to your company's membership.

Currently the number of people that can have access is listed below:

  • Gold Pass Members    1 primary member, plus 4 addtional individuals
  • Silver Pass Members   1 primary member, plus 2 addtional individuals
  • Bronze Pass Members 1 primary member, plus 1 additional individual
  • Basic Member            1 primary member
  • Industry Partners also get addtional spots for individuals

How to use the addtional spots:
  1. Sign into your ARCSI Online Community Membership with your username and password
  2. Once you are in the site you should land on your profile (besure to update it if you have not already)
  3. On the right menu you will see a list of items. Click on "my sub-accounts".
  4. When this window opens it will show you how many invitations you have.
  5. Enter email addresses in the window to the individuals you want listed under the membership for your company. (note: individuals included must be, owners, partners, or key employees of the member company.)
  6. The individuals will receive the invitation you sent and will be promoted to set up their profile.
  7. Once they have set up their profile, you will all show up under your company in the online directory.
  8. If experience difficulty with this or need any assistance email Perry at perry@arcsi.org or call 404.909.8781.
